The Production Floor Lead is responsible for assisting the Hatchery Manager and Assistant Hatchery Manager by monitoring and maintaining a good production flow while ensuring chick quality.
Duties/Responsibilities:
* Start mixing procedures for vaccine.
* Connect vaccine bags to PSP main lines and prime pumps allowing excess air to be removed.
* Check for defective needles and correct baffle placement.
* Inspect each PSP prior to startup and sign off on animal welfare form.
* Closely monitor the quality control personnel, ensuring high quality chicks and proper spraying of vaccines.
* Separate and inventory all chicks by flock, accounting for cull chicks and estimating for extras.
* Coordinating with the sexing team, set the tone for speed needed and when stops should take place.
* Verify daily processing totals, from each PSP, and match those numbers to the floor count.
* Monitor for a minimum of 7” of liquid nitrogen in each vaccine container and log all readings.
* Check for overall cleanliness on the chick processing room.
* Maintain, organize, and clean the laboratory
* Produce bi-monthly inventory of vaccines to the front office.
* Inventory and ensure proper levels of all vaccine supplies i.
e.
tubing, needles, dyes, and drip chambers.
* Take chick temperatures
* Tracking and documentation to comply with animal welfare
Additional Duties:
* Perform other job duties as assigned.
* Cover for team members during vacations, absences, etc.

Required Skills/Abilities:
* Understand the importance of “high quality” chicks as described in the Animal Welfare Training
* Ability to use and set syringes for proper penetration levels.
* Understanding of how to identify and relocate “cull chicks” as described in the Animal Welfare
Training
* Ability to read labeled dose amounts and adjust as need.
* Must have good accounting of chicks, vaccine, and food supplement.
* Precise hand/eye coordination
* Understanding of and focus on equipment cleanliness and cleaning procedures.
* Good communication skills
* Accuracy is essential.
Education and Experience:
* Knowledge of NovaTech equipment operation.
Physical Requirements:
* Able to stand on feet for 10 hours consecutively per day.
* Regularly required to sit or stand, bend and reach.
* Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
