*The Position*
The Merrick Medical Center (MMC) President and Chief Executive Officer is responsible for the planning, provision, and allocation of functional resources necessary to carry out the day-to-day operations of MMC.
These responsibilities include leadership of financial, operational, service performance, as well as, organizational culture and physician, board, and community relations.
Duties falling under this role also include, assuring compliance with regulatory agencies and accrediting bodies, ensuring the sound financial operations of the entire organization while promoting services produced in a cost effective manner, working in conjunction with the Bryan Health System to provide strategic direction and policy implementation, and providing timely responses to Medical Staff, employees and patients.
All responsibilities and duties are accomplished by establishing appropriate performance standards, qualifications and expectations of MMC and Bryan Health.
The President/CEO’s principle duties and responsibilities include: * Committing to the mission, vision, beliefs and consistently demonstrating the Bryan Health and MMC core values.
* Overseeing formulation of organizational goals, action plans, and programs in alignment with MMC’s and Bryan Health’s strategic plan, mission, vision, and brand standards; ensuring goals, plans, and programs are properly executed, and the Board of Trustees is updated on progress quarterly.
* Overseeing the organization’s preparation and readiness for all regulatory surveys; assuring that all entities are in compliance to successfully meet the standards of these agencies.
* Collaborating with the Finance Director to ensure fiscal management, budgeting, and integrity of all interim reporting provided to the Board of Trustees.
* Collaborating with the Clinical Quality Coordinator and Chief of Medical Staff to ensure quality initiatives are achieved.
* Overseeing the operations of the medical clinics’ including the employed physicians and mid-level providers.
* Leading MMC on its journey of excellence including implementation, competency development, and hardwiring of service excellence initiatives.
* Ensuring service performance throughout the continuum of care including pre- and post-patient relations.
* Providing leadership, mentoring, and coaching to the senior leaders and managers to help them achieve MMC’s goals.
* Leading physician recruitment and retention initiatives.
* Serving as a liaison to the community on behalf of MMC and Bryan Health.
* Building relationships with key constituent groups including educational institutions, fire and rescue, city and county government, long-term care facilities and large employers.
* Serving as MMC’s liaison to Bryan Health including coordinating and synchronizing strategy, communication, branding, programs, and specialty physician relationships on an ongoing basis.
*Qualifications* The ideal candidate will have served as a successful President/CEO, or in an executive leadership role, for a minimum of five years, preferably in a Critical Access Hospital.
The candidate must have at minimum a bachelor’s degree in Healthcare Administration, Business Administration or health care related field of study, master’s is preferred.
Must have successful leadership experience that includes physician relations, budgeting, community relations and strategic planning.
Must have strong communication skills and a history of progressive organizational growth and development.

MMC and their medical clinics in Central City and Fullerton are the primary source of healthcare for the rural communities it serves.
MMC opened their new $27 million, 51,300 square foot, facility in June 2022 and are dedicated to continuing to offer award-winning services, and keeping health care close to home.
The new facility consists of 6 adaptable inpatient care rooms, a full service emergency department, state of the art operating room, rehabilitation gym, 18 room rural health clinic, cafeteria and a number of additional patient care departments and amenities.
Four Board Certified Family Practice physicians, a Board Certified Psychiatry and Neurology physician, and four physician-assistants staff the Central City Medical Clinic and satellite clinic in Fullerton, NE.
MMC employs nearly 120 medical and support staff, and is one of the largest employers in the service area.
The Medical Center also works in tandem with physicians across the state to offer eight professional outpatient specialty clinics.
