CATEGORY MANAGER
Responsible for all aspects of product assortment, pricing, replenishment and promotions for all categories assigned to.
Selects suppliers and develops productive business relationships with them.
Serves as the expert in all product categories.
Works closely with buyers to successfully achieve all branch objectives in assigned categories.
Responsibilities:
Negotiates supplier programs to improve and exceed rebate budget
Reviews, analyzes and implements supply chain efficiencies, including cost of goods improvement, logistics improvement, days on hand and terms
Establishes annual category objectives and plans; advises sales and marketing of plans
Work with Purchasing to ensure correct product mix and inventory levels for assigned categories in order to satisfy branch objectives
Works with Sales to achieve target profit margins across all categories
Manage in to stock pricing
Understands & studies industry trends, emerging concepts and market segments
NegotiatesVendor Allowance Programs
Works with Marketing to develop Merchandising Activities (sales events, flyers, promotions)
Provides assistance with branch level merchandising events, including regional food shows
Responsible for regular reviewof vendor contracts
Prepares and analyses applicable reports
Provides timely and accurate promotional funds collection by assigned vendors
Other responsibilities and duties as assigned
Qualifications:
High School Diploma or equivalent required, Bachelor’s degree in Business or related field preferred
Twoyears of experience in Category or Product Management or in Buying or Purchasing preferred, specifically within the food industry
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Ability to develop excellent vendor and customer relationships
Basic computer skills in Microsoft Word, Excel, Power Point and Outlook
