York County 9-1-1 invites applications for the position of a Full Time Lead Communications Officer.
The Lead Communications Officer (hereinafter referred to as “Lead”) serves as the front-line supervisor for the York County PSAP under the direction of the Deputy Communications Director; they are also trained Communications Training Officers.
Leads are knowledgeable of and adhere to the terms of the York County PSAP Standard Operating Procedure (SOPs) manual, providing input and assistance to management in developing new policy/procedure and keeping it current.
While supervising a shift, performs a variety of duties; ensures that Communications Officers and CTOs adhere to all policies, procedures, and best practices; takes immediate corrective action when needed; can direct front line personnel when needed; serves as an example of proper conduct and job performance to co-workers; may be tasked to resolve conflicts and must do so in a respectful manner.
This position may be asked to work a scheduled shift at any time of the day and on weekends and holidays.
Employment is contingent on background check.

*Education/Qualifications/Skills/Abilities:*
* High School Diploma or equivalent.
* Must have a minimum of 4 years' experience as a public safety telecommunicator.
* Must have a minimum of 2 years' experience as a Communicatons Training Officer or communication training experience equivalent.
* Valid Driver’s License.
* Dependable, self-motivated, and team-oriented, with a desire to provide a service to the community.
* Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
* Ability to adapt to change and working in a high-paced, high-stress environment.
Ability to remain calm under pressure.
* High attention to detail and empathy towards customer needs and concerns.
* Ability to communicate clearly, concisely, and effectively; relay details accurately; actively listen; think and act quickly.
* Read and interpret geographical spatial data and maps quickly and accurately.
* Provide effective customer service and deal tactfully and courteously with a demanding public.
* Establish and maintain cooperative and professional working relationships with co-workers, supervisors, representatives from other departments, and other emergency services agencies.
