We are currently hiring for a Full-time Lead Teacher (40 hours /week) and a Part-time Assistant Teacher (20-25 hours/week).
Daily hours may vary depending on the care needs of our families.
The Part-time position will work in different areas on different days and times, depending on the need.
Age ranges of children is 6 weeks to 5 years old.
Interested persons must be able to lift 20 lbs and interact with children at their level, which includes being on the floor at times.
POSITION SUMMARY:
This position supports the work of the Y, a leading nonprofit committed to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living and social responsibility.
Develops, organizes and implements high quality YMCA child care programs for Early Childhood Development and School Age after School and School’s Out Days.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Supervises the children, classroom and all program activities
Follows all procedures and standards as established by law and the YMCA; makes ADA accommodations where appropriate; maintains the program site, equipment, and required program records.
Nurtures children through purposeful programming; creates lesson plans that are intended to achieve program goals and outcomes.
Creates a positive rapport and shared interest with all youth.
Provides opportunities for youth to lead, problem-solve, and make decisions and choices within the program and provides daily opportunities for youth to reflect on and respond to their experiences.
Makes ongoing, systematic observations and evaluations of each child.
Provides and welcomes ongoing dialogue with parents and caregivers about their child’s needs and progress; conducts parent/caregiver conferences; connects families to the Y.
Attends and participates in family nights, program activities, staff meetings and staff training.
Performs other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:
Meets educational and experience qualifications established by state law and/or the Y.
CPR, First-Aid, and AED certifications required.
Child Abuse Prevention training required within 30 days of hire.
Meets minimum age standards as established by state law and / or the Y.
Previous experience working 1,500 clock hours with children in a developmental setting.
Ability to plan, organize and implement age/developmentally appropriate activities.
Previous experience with diverse populations.
Ability to develop positive, authentic relationships with people from different backgrounds.
